Module Overview
This module covers the competencies required to plan, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring systems in residential, commercial, and light industrial premises, in accordance with national electrical codes, wiring regulations, and safety standards.
It encompasses the fundamental principles of electrical circuits, including the application of Kirchhoff's Current and Voltage Laws and circuit theorems; the
interpretation of wiring diagrams and schematics; the selection of appropriate cables, conduits, and
wiring accessories; and the safe installation and termination of single-phase and three-phase wiring systems.
COMPETENCY
By the end of this module, the trainee shall:
a) Interpret electrical wiring regulations, standards and safety requirements applicable to wiring installations.
b) Diagnose and rectify faults in electrical wiring systems. Select appropriate wiring materials, accessories, cables and protective devices for electrical
installations.
c) Plan and design wiring layouts and circuits and prepare a BOQ for
domestic, commercial and industrial installations.
d) Install electrical wiring systems using appropriate wiring methods in accordance with standard codes of practice. Test, inspect and commission electrical wiring installations.
